STUDENT GUIDE TO PRE-THESIS DEFENSE PROCEDURES
Graduate students are required to complete the following procedures before taking their thesis defense examination.
1. Obtaining the Thesis Similarity Report
To obtain a thesis similarity report, the thesis file must be submitted by the thesis advisor to tezkontrol@gantep.edu.tr in Word (.docx) or PDF (.pdf) format.
The submitted file must:

Include the inner title page and the main body of the thesis.

Exclude the references, table of contents, lists of tables and figures, list of abbreviations, dedication, approval page, Turkish and English abstracts, acknowledgments, and declaration pages.
Similarity checks are conducted by our Graduate School using Turnitin throughout the week.
The thesis file must be prepared in accordance with the Gaziantep University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Guidelines for Obtaining a Thesis Similarity Report.
2. Preparing the Thesis Similarity Report Form
Based on the similarity report sent by our Graduate School via email, the Thesis Similarity Report Form (F9tr or F9en) must be completed and signed by the student or thesis advisor.
The similarity report provided by the Graduate School must also be attached to the completed form.
In addition, a copy of the similarity report must be provided to the thesis defense committee members along with the thesis by the student or thesis advisor.

3. Submission of Documents to the Graduate School
All required documents must be submitted to the Graduate School through the relevant Graduate Program Department at least 15 days before the scheduled thesis defense examination date.
IMPORTANT: If the required documents are not submitted within the specified 15-day period, the thesis defense examination date will not be approved by the Graduate School.
4. Verification of the Thesis Signature Page
Before the thesis defense examination, the thesis signature page template must be reviewed and approved by the Graduate School's Thesis Review Unit.
For this purpose, a printed copy of the thesis signature page must be submitted to the Thesis Review Unit before the defense examination for verification.
5. Forms Required Before and After the Thesis Defense
Students must prepare and submit the relevant forms according to their graduate program (Master's or Ph.D.).
